DART members often spend the most time engaging with the parents and other family members of people using drugs. We find that supporting the network around people at risk due to their substance use helps fortify their health and wellness in general. Families may receive Narcan, and be connected to community-based supports and organizations dedicated to supporting and empowering them. They can also receive education, technical support, and guidance around navigating the systems of care including treatment and recovery support resources.

That network also includes the workplace. We provide resources including overdose reversal kits and supportive workplace information to businesses in our area.

The Northampton Health Department and Hampshire HOPE offer a Workplace Toolkit designed to help employees and employers address problems caused by opioid and other drug use in workplace settings. It also aims to promote Recovery Supportive Workplaces, cultures that actively support employees struggling with addiction and mental health issues and their families. We believe this makes businesses more successful and efficient for all in the long run.
